Unreal Engine 5 Projects

Overview

I’ve built a number of small projects / gameplay experiences in Unreal Engine 5 showcasing a few skills / areas of experience within the UE5 toolset.

Areas of Experience: Systems Design, Gameplay Mechanics, Blueprint Scripting, 2D/3D Level Design (Encounter Design, Interactables, Game Flow), 3C’s (Character, Controls, Camera), UX Design/HUD

Most projects seen here utilize third-party assets (models, sprites, animations), but the gameplay, systems, levels (where noted), and general functionality have all been designed, implemented, and assembled from scratch using Blueprints and UE5 Tools / Plug-ins.

Third-Person Platformer - Race against the clock while conserving your limited supply of jetpack fuel in this third-person platforming game, where touching the ground results in an instant ‘Game Over’.

Features various level hazards, physical switch-operated doors and a variety of platform behaviors. Also includes a custom checkpoint system, automatically saving progress at configurable points within the level.

Drone Shooter Game - Single-player shooter, where the player battles against droves of enemy AI drones. Movement is key to survival. Includes design configurable AI spawn mechanics, health and ability pick-ups, minimalistic UI, and a mini-boss at the end. Level provided via an asset pack.

2D Pixel Platformer - Single-player 2D platformer utilizing PaperZD plug-in. Features enemy AI state machines (patrolling, combat, idle, etc.), a simple attack combo system, as well as pick-ups, destructible objects, and hazards.
